Our club programs offer the highest level of competition and training for a given sport. These prrograms require a strong commitments to work hard and honor God while learning advanced skills and building life-long relationships.

Roderick Foster was born in Birmingham, Alabama. In college, Rod played basketball for the University of California, Los Angeles. He led the nation in free throw percentage (95%) as a junior at UCLA. The 6'1" 160-pound guard was drafted out of UCLA in 1983 in the second round of the NBA Draft (28th pick overall). He played for the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. While with the Suns, Rod was the leading three-point shooter for three years. His professional basketball career was cut short by an off-road auto accident when his Jeep rolled over and broke his left tibia. He also was involved as a player with Athletes in Action and was an assistant coach for Wright State University in Ohio for five years.
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Joshua Merrill played three different sports in high school. In his senior year, he was runner-up for Athlete of the Year in the state of California. In 1994, Josh was named the CIF Player of the Year in basketball and The San Diego Union Tribune also named Josh as its Athlete of the Year. Josh focused on basketball in college and signed with Pepperdine University where he played his freshman year before transferring to and finishing his final three years at the University of California, Santa Barbara. For three years at UCSB, he was the second leading scorer and rebounder for the team. The UCSB Gauchos won the Big West Conference his senior season, and Josh was named Second Team, All Best West. Josh then continued playing basketball overseas for six years in a variety of different countries, including Argentina, Portugal, and Australia. Since 2006, he has been the director and pastor with Shepherd Sports.
Justin Flint was born in Los Angeles, California. After graduating from California State University Northridge, Justin combined his passion for youth education with his love of sports. In 2008, he began coaching at the recreation level for the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. This eventually led to Justin organizing and overseeing multiple youth sports programs. In addition to coaching several club teams since then, he has also coached elementary through high school basketball at several private schools in the Los Angeles area. In the beginning of 2018, Justin began coaching basketball at Shepherd and he is now the Sports Coordinator for the Shepherd Sports ministry.
Louis Fernando was Born and raised in Granada Hills California. He played high school basketball at Granada Hills charter high school and continued his education and basketball at Moorpark College. Shortly after getting his Associates degree at Moorpark he also went onto play basketball at Concordia University Chicago. Louis is a young christian athlete who is a testimony for undersized athletes who can do achieve anything they set their mind too. He's been around Shepherd since high school and has been a staple in the basketball program at Shepherd. Louis loves to helps kids develop their game and has big dreams to help grow our Club Basketball program.
