The Mission of the Shepherd Sports is to provide opportunities to reach those who do not know Christ, through the common bond of sports. Our goal is to offer avenues for our community to participate and serve through sports while building friendships and connecting with the church. Our program strives to provide a non-threatening atmosphere so everyone can invite friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family members while seizing chances to share and grow in the love of God.
Shepherd Sports is a ministry of Shepherd Church, a 10,000-member congregation led by Senior Pastor Dudley Rutherford with three campuses in the Greater Los Angeles area. In 2006, Pastor Josh Merrill was hired to launch Shepherd Sports and currently leads its youth, adult, rec & fitness programs. Most of these programs take place in the Youth Sports Center, which has a state-of-the-art gymnasium with both side and full courts for basketball and volleyball. Over the past 14 years, Shepherd Sports continues to run excellent sports and recreational programs for men and women of all ages, hosting more than 3,500 participants each year.
